The venue and dates are set and the official invite packets are being prepared. In the first 8 days, dozens of college coaches have already committed staff to the event and top prospects from across the Sunshine State have marked their calendars! On July 1st, Saint Leo University will be holding the first ever Showcase Camp that will bring 130 top Florida and Texas prospects in for a 3 day camp.
Saint Leo University is located in Pasco County just outside of Tampa. The cost of the camp will include the housing and meals of all prospects. Housing is located on campus within steps of the practice fields. Meals are also prepared on campus, steps away from the practice fields. A perfect camp location for the perfect camp!
Who all is involved in this camp?
Saint Leo University will be putting on this event. This University has a track record of hosting football camps in the past and will continue to do so in the future. Mike Alstott will also be a big part of this camp. For nearly 10 years now, Mike has not only produced on the football field for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but has been a tremendous name in the Tampa Bay community. His efforts with area youths off the field have made him a hometown hero. His camps in Tampa have been a big success in the past and this Showcase Camp has been a dream for quite some time. Together with Saint Leo and Mike Alstott, SunshinePreps and TexasPreps will help make this camp one of a kind!
Yes, there will be a charge to cover the cost of running the camp. This however will be a camp provided AT COST. By the end of the week, we should have a price set. Details will be posted. The cost will include the 3 day camp, housing, meals, insurance, and a linen set in the room. Camper will need to bring a pillow however.
Additional information:
-This will not be a combine. There will be no measurements or timings.
-At the time, this event is closed to the media.
-Parents will be allowed to attend.
-I am currently working on finding a host hotel that will be located minutes away and will offer a camp discount rate for parents who wish to stay overnight.
-I will continue to update rosters on camp invites and committs.
-I will at some point in the future introduce some of the college programs who are committed to the event once everything has been cleared through their compliance office.

Attention D1A college recruiters. Mark your calendars for July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd as SunshinePreps is in the final stages of putting on a showcase of talent that will truely be one of a kind. The final details are being worked out so stay tuned for information but COLLEGE COACHES ARE PERMITTED TO WORK THE CAMP!
What exactly is this showcase of talent?
This will be an elite camp for D1A talent only and will be staffed by D1A coaches. There will be a total of 125 invites. 100 of the invites will be from Florida. There will also be up to 15 invites from the state of Texas. There will be an additional 10-15 spots filled by standouts of the Mike Alstott football camp. All together, 125 D1A talents will spend 3 days showcasing their skills in 7 on 7 formats.
Over the next many weeks, I will be updating some of the committments to this camp. We will begin by introducing the QBs who will headline the camp. Next, we will begin to introduce some of the D1A programs who will be staffing the camp. We will then introduce the 25 WRs, 15 RBs, 5 TEs who will be facing off against 45 of the best LBs and DBs in the state of Florida. We will also be introducing up to 15 prospects out of the state of Texas courtesy of TexasPreps. What will result is a fireworks display that will rival a 4th of July celebration.
D1A coaches will be allowed to work the camp. I have set aside 30 spots but can take more. After the first 30 however, housing and meals can't be covered on my end. I will figure a maximum number of coaches who will be able to staff it and will be posted later.

We begin with an introduction of the Quarterbacks who will headline this camp. Two committments are already in and we take a look at these two in action during their Junior seasons. DC Jefferson and Conner Kempe have already begun to draw attention from college coaches around the country and they have decided to showcase their skills in July. Also just on board are Sancho McDonald out of Miami Booker T. and Star Jackson out of Lake Worth. SunshinePrep's brings you a look at these kids in action. Today we will also begin introducing a few of the 5 slots open to the 2009 class. We have two kids on board already in Cody Ledford, LB out of North Florida Christian and Jairus Jones, DB out of Tampa Wharton. Stay tuned as there is a big 3rd name that may be added to this list!
***Update*** This camp is without a doubt going to set the standard. In the past 3 days, I have had 10 of the 30 D1A spots fill up from the college coaches. Once I have about 30 camp committs linked up, I will be introducing some of the college programs who will be working the event. Also, in the past 15 minutes, I have had two major additions to the camp committ list in Bartow WR Malcolm Johnson and Dunnellon LB Lerentee McCray. SunshinePreps now introduces you to this talented duo who will be showcasing their skills at camp! Add another top prospect to the list! Vince Williams, LB out of Ridge Community will be heading to camp. We take a look at Vince in action during this past season. Welcome aboard Vince!

This camp is quickly taking shape and we take a look at yet another early committment. SunshinePreps introduces you to the 5A Texas Player of the Year!
This will be the final post and story of the year in which I add a number of 2007 prospect videos which have come in over the past few weeks. I have many to add and it may take all the way up until signing day but I will remain hard at work. The deadline for 2007 film has passed and our push for the 2008 class is well underway! Tons of video to come.

As the 2007 prospect coverage winds down, the 2008 prospect coverage is on a pace to shatter the 1200 prospect clips from this year. I have already completed nearly 200 prospect clips on the Junior class and tonight I offer up another sneak peek! Take a look at one of the nation's top WR prospects.
Our 2007 prospect coverage continues as we approach 1200 prospect clips in the video directory. The production of 2007 video is coming to an end at the end of the month but we continue our push to cover as much of this state as possible. Over the next few days I will be working on already submitted highlight tapes. Stay tuned!
Once again, SunshinePreps is hard at work searching the state for quality OL prospects. It all starts in the trenches and this hard working lineman can get it done. Today we take a "First Look" at OL prospect Aron Arrington out of Palm Coast High School. We will also take a look at a number of other Senior prospects out of this program. Stay tuned!
There are busy days ahead so I wanted to update you guys on a few things. First off, we are approaching 1200 video clips for the Class of 2007. Each and every year SunshinePreps has grown and this coming season will be no different as we are already approaching the 200 mark on the Class of 2008. The 2008 footage will not hit the website for a few months so the focus can stay on the current Senior class BUT there will be a deadline set for 2007 tapes to come in and that day will be approaching soon.
The LAST day to send already created highlights for the Class of 2007 will be November 30th. I have dozens and dozens of Senior highlights in hand already and will be working on them this weekend. I will get every highlight I have received so far linked up and run on the website so hang in there!
Once the end of the month arrives, I will focus 100% of my efforts on game film breakdown on the Class of 2008. I have between 600 and 700 game tapes from the current season and anticipate another 500 tapes to come in. Needless to say, I will be 70-80 hours a week, each week until this time next year. At that time, I am going to estimate SunshinePreps will have featured between 1500-2000 2008 prospects. The cooperation of the high school coaches have really made much of this possible and the number of coaches and schools involved has been tremendous but has been overwhelming at times. You coaches hang in there, as every tape I have either picked up or received in the mail will be reviewed and broken down.
